PACIFIC TELEVISION CENTER AND GLOBECAST AUSTRALIA
ANNOUNCE A NEW STRATEGIC ALLIANCE FOR BROADCAST-SAVVY FIBER SOLUTIONS

GlobeCast Australia and Pacific Television Center’s announcement marks the creation of a new fiber network that links Auckland, Sydney, Los Angeles and London. Unlike many networks that were primarily established to carry telephony and data traffic, this one was specifically designed for broadcasters and their unique requirements. In addition, both firms believe that their combined experience and working relationships will enable them to provide a thoroughly eloquent fiber solution to broadcaster professionals in these regions.

More than 20 years of client satisfaction and industry alliances have made Pacific Television Center a staple for both distribution and live broadcast production. From a single local loop and one studio in Los Angeles during the early years, to a powerhouse of connectivity and four studios—including a new one in London—Pacific Television Center caters to clients across multiple industries and international borders.

This new GlobeCast Australia / Pacific Television Center fiber service commenced on 1 January 2005 and is already gaining rapid acceptance as an ideal delivery route between the cities. The fiber network is a fully redundant 155 Mbps service based upon point-to-point “work & protect” STM-1 SDH / OC3 Sonet technology and does not have an ATM layer. The diversely routed “work & protect” fiber circuits are terminated at Pacific Television Center’s London & Los Angeles MCRs, GlobeCast Australia’s MCR in Sydney and at our POP in Auckland. Other network features include:

* Best in class picture quality with leading edge Thomson ViBE encoders/decoders
* Standby encoders/decoders for "hot" switching redundancy to alleviate pressure in a
   crisis situation
* End to end ASI delivery
* Fully digital platform with serial digital interface and capable of four audio channels
* Direct connections to the BT Tower in London, LA Switch & SBC Hub in Los Angeles and
   the Sydney TOC.
* 24/7 management of the service and responsive attention to enquiries, bookings
and requests at any time of the day or night.
